This band of fabric was called a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.issendai.com\/16thcenturyistanbul\/garments\/what-were-they-called\/cember-cenber\/\">\u00e7ember or \u00e7enber<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes the band was embroidered instead of folded. There are several examples of these bands in the Topkapi Museum, all attributed to H\u00fcrrem Sultan.
