In modern Turkish, the word refers to a range of pinkish lilac colors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>G\u00fclg\u00fbn\u00ee<\/strong>, vermilion (literally \u201crose-colored\u201d). Eight of the eleven rose-colored garments in the estate records belonged to&nbsp;\u0130smihan Hatun bt. \u0130lyas, whose record was so profoundly Persianate that even her shifts were referred to as pirihan, not gomlek. The only red-related word in her estate record was g\u00fclg\u00fbn\u00ee,&nbsp;so&nbsp;in&nbsp;her&nbsp;case,&nbsp;at&nbsp;least, g\u00fclg\u00fbn\u00ee simply meant red.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>N\u00e2renci<\/strong>, orange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Turuncu<\/strong>, orange.
